Accreditation is a strategic tool contributing to economic development through the support it provides to the results or certificates issued by laboratories, certifiers, or accredited inspectors for companies or industries of multiple economic sectors, thus providing a seal of confidence regarding the safety and quality of goods or services. In Colombia, ONAC was designated as the sole national accreditor by the Single Regulatory Decree of the Commerce, Industry and Tourism Sector.

The IAF is the world association of conformity assessment accreditation bodies and other bodies interested in conformity assessment in the fields of management systems, products, devices, personnel and other similar programmes of conformity assessment. Quality Council of India (QCI)

QCI was established as the National body for Accreditation responded to areas by establishing the National Accreditation Board for Hospital & Healthcare Providers and National Accreditation Board for Education and training. Accreditation boards on conformity assessment, the boards for healthcare & education, have international linkages for global acceptance.
